Northwich,
whilst not the most central town in the UK, is easily accessible
from the M6 (junction 18 or 19), or via the A556 if coming from the
west. The town itself has been a salt mining community for
donkey's years - it even boasts a salt museum to prove it - and is
home to the branch of Astra Zeneca (known to most as ICI) which
invented polythene.
Also nearby is The
Anderton Boat Lift, the first of it's kind in the world.
The Floatel is
unique in that it is the only hotel in the UK that actually floats
on a river, and goes up and down with the water level. For more
information regarding The Floatel, including a map of the area, and
directions to get there, and other things to see and do, check out
the hotel website:

For anybody thinking of spending the weekend
in Northwich, The Floatel is conveniently situated pretty much in
the town centre, close to the town cinema (unfortunately now closed).
There are also two Travel Inn's in close proximity: The Woodpecker
on the east side of town, and the Blue Cap on the West side on the
bypass. Check the Premier Travel Inn website for more information.
Naturally there are any number of B & B's in
the immediate vicinity as well. The British Tourist Board can
provide more information.
